    What did you like about the course?

    Pretty much everything. Mostly- the fact that all the information is coming from someone who has done it in the real world, and his experince with real business situations is extremely valuable. There are many great business books out there packed with tons of usefull information, but experince mixed with information is gold. I felt like I was having a conversation with the instructor through out the course, and the way the explanation of the financials were broken down- was easy and made sense. Also the extra Links to the lessons were loaded with valuable information and resources.

    What suggestions do you have?

    Are there any follow up courses? Or a way to keep in touch with the instructor? Thank you for your expertise, time and energy that you put into this course- I have found it to be loaded with tips, ideas, and very interesting. I'm 110% confident that I will use what I;ve learned in the near future to acquire a business with minimal amount of my own money! Thanks.

    What did you like about the course?

    The professor was very knowledgeable. He welcomed class discussion and responded quickly to questions. I was able to complete the lessons in a timely manner that fit my life responibilities. Additionaly, I learned how to break down the business that I want to buy to determine the best way to buy that business, which was the goal of the class

    What suggestions do you have?

    Some of us have little business experience. Some of the terms in the last three lessons were hard to understand without experience such as the paperwork and reports to prepare in order to acquire a loan. I think a limited or small description would help. However, they might end up explain themselves as the student goes through the process in real life--the instructor would know.

    What did you like about the course?

    The course was excellent and well presented. The strongest parts were the "Do-Able Deal Analyzer" and the Business Price Calculator.

    What suggestions do you have?

    In lesson 6 instead of projecting quarterly figures it is more practical to use the trailing 12 months figures. If they can provide figures for a current quarter they shoould be able to provide figures for the previous three quarters. Instead of picking a replacement salary from the air it would be better to factor in the actual salary you will need to meet your current standard of living. You are considering buying the business, and it must meet your needs - not someone else's. Some prospective buyers may require only $25,000 annually to maintain their current lifestyle, while others could not get by with less than $100,000 annually. The business should be analyzed to meet YOUR needs - not the needs of some other average hypothetical buyer. Most buyers will be more interested in buying it for the job rather than as a passive investment.

    Thanks Gary, this class has given me the confidence to actually to action to make my dreams of owning my own business a reality. I'm in negotiations right now, unfortunately the sellers is not as forth coming as you have indicated, so I think I'm going to pass and look for something else.

    Clearly the financial analysis, done right it appears to me that it really reduces the risk of buying a business. This course was way more than I expected.

    Jam packed with useful information. "Streetwise" tidbits such as passion for a business, body language interpretation, invitations for business lunches. Useful hyperlinks, in-depth spreadsheet analysis.

    Try to leave words such as stupid and silly out of course vocabulary. Doesn't add to anything at all. It may seem an insignificant, juvenile point, but I doubt if Bill Gates would say you're stupid for using "Apple software". He might just say, "Use Microsoft for all your software needs. The performance is excellent"

    Concepts discussed on presentation, locating sellers and evaluating sellers. Also, buying distressed company discussion was enlightening.

    Lots of great information. I am an accountant and was always told to price a business was 4-6 times Net Profit. This class proved that was not always the correct way to calculate a purchase price.

    The formulas to calculate how much a business is worth was the most valuable to me. Also, the ability to download the lesson when it is best for you is much better than having to be in a classroom at a particular time each week.

    What did you like about the course?

    The teacher was friendly and always available to answer any questions. He was also very knowledgeable of the subject. There were so many interesting things to learn. I really enjoyed the course!

    What suggestions do you have?

    I felt that the pace of the class was the only problem along with that it's difficult to sometimes get class participation becuase of students various schedules. Earlier on in the course I wanted to work ahead but could not because we had to wait for the next lesson date to get the next link. Then later in the course it felt too fast. It may have just been that my life got too busy outside of the course for me to keep current and not fall behind. I think the course should be twice as long with one lesson per week instead of two. This may not apply to other online courses, but I think for this course subject a longer course would be wiser and easier for students to stay current. I can't speak for others, but this is just how it was for me. I may repeat the course in the future just to cover anything I missed. I hope it will be the same intstructor when I repeat the course.     For those whose note taking skills are weak, or interruptions in your schedule force you to put the class on hold, WEB BASED CLASSES ARE THE WAY TO GO! The amount of written material was fantastic although the interactive spreadsheets were tough. I loved the detail and will be able to easily re-reference the material long after the course has concluded. Great job!

    1)Suggesting/offering a (basic) business course pre-requisite, for those who do not have a business background. 2)This is similar to suggestion #1, offer a class on starting a business (aside from home based or internet business).

    So far I've been particulary impressed with Lessons 5 & 6. Lesson 8 also is very good.

    Using these different ways of interpretting & refiguring the price/gross and net worths of a business were something I would not have done on my own.

    What suggestions do you have?

    I feel that a better explanation of how to apply lesson 5 to the spreadsheets would have been helpful to me. This may be due to my own shortsightedness.
