What were some of the strong points of the course?
FOR ME THE STRONG POINTS (OR WHAT I GAINED THE MOST FROM) WAS THE PROPER WAY TO USE A PLANNER, DESK AND HOME CLUTTER AND PROCRASTINATION LESSON. THE ADDITIONAL LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES AND HOW TO BEST USE THE INTERNET WERE VERY HELPFUL TO ME.

What were some of the strong points of the course?
Succinct lessons and good tips.
IT is a bit funy that I read the procrastination at the last possible minute!
How Would You Improve The Class?
I had hoped the discussion would be more interactive. I posted a couple of responses with minimal response. For example, I had asked specifically what to file and what can be discarded. I thought the idea of going electronic with a scanner was intriguing, but I didn't know hwat to scan and what didn't need to be retained.

Probably the one you fight the most. Lack of participation within the discussion. Could some exercises be included that needed feedback to complete - or some form of teaming exercise that needed to be done through the discussion.

I liked the voice recordings
Easy to navigate
I liked the heads up on the final course deadline
How Would You Improve The Class?
Some of the graphic captions were blurry/illegible
Some of the quotes at the beginning of the chapters were repeats from previous chapters
Only about 20% was new information to me; 80% review.
Some of the lessons didn't seem to have as much "meat" as other lessons. The earlier lessons seemed to have more "meat"

What were some of the strong points of the course?
The flexibility I had with time in taking the course. Most lessons were done in the evening because that is what my schedule allowed. The other strong point is the fact that the class offered insight to not only business related issues, but personal i.e. household organization.

What were some of the strong points of the course?
The step-by-step points in almost every lesson were especially helpful; not only did they tell you what to do, but also how to do it. I believe if I could force myself to do everything suggested that I might be the most organized I've ever been in my life!
How Would You Improve The Class?
For me, it was hard to get "into" the first lesson or two. I understand it, but I felt the tasks were time consuming and I wanted more "meat". I would suggest putting these in somewhere else in the course.
While I didn't have the time to interact with other students and the instructor--or make the time--I feel it was valuable and will be of ongoing use. Thanks!

What were some of the strong points of the course?
Gary's energy and commitment to the class.
How Would You Improve The Class?
Lessons 1 and 2 did not seem to fit with the class theme. I was behind from the start because of a mix up with my email address and then trying to figure out the first two lessons (finding out that I really screwed up the early years of my life really threw me) put me really behind until I decided to just go on. This was my first web based class and I quess I didn't know what to expect. Reading everything off the computer was very hard for me. Suggesting to print everything and then reading and doing work would have been better. Something a friend told me many weeks into the class. I would like to try and redo this class when I don't have as many other things going on at the same time.

What were some of the strong points of the course?
This was my first on-line class, so for me it was the excellent tech. support, student tools & external links - I would have been lost w/o it. My ultimate success (& survival) in this course depended on it! All lessons were presented in a very thorough and easy to understand way. Supplementary info. was also excellent - some great resource info. for the future. This course was like taking 2 for the price of 1 because I also greatly increased my computer knowledge & skills.
How Would You Improve The Class?
Just keep up the good work you are already doing. There was so much valuable info. provided in this course that it far surpassed my expectations- every penny spent was well worth it. Thank you Gary.

What were some of the strong points of the course?
I think the sections on developing and maintaining a planner were very useful.
I also found the lesson, Bringing it Home very good as well. I am retired and have been a little overwhelmed with the prospect of organizing my personal life (which was avoided for years while I worked).
Overall the format was clear and staightforward and direct.
Great class!
Also, I liked being able to fit in the course work on my schedule and from home rather than having to be somewhere at a definte time.
How Would You Improve The Class?
I think it might be good to directly reference some of the 'standard' work done in the areas you covered, eg, The One Minute Manager or The World is Flat or others who have provided insight. It would just add some weight to the ideas and opportunties for further study.
Also, I agree that I have to do a better job prioritizing (everything is important in my world), but I could have used more help in getting there... Not sure what, but still feel a little unprepared.

How Would You Improve The Class?
More involvement by the students on the discussion board would have been pretty nifty stuff. Peer challenge and debate bring up new and interesting perspectives. Perhaps a more creative approach to get the students involved, like each person submitting a part on a group mind map, just for fun and see where it leads the conversations for gaining more interest.

How Would You Improve The Class?
Considering from the perspective that I lead a life that doesn't permit more time, this course was just right for me. It became a little difficult to get all the reading done, all of the actual hands-on assignments, but the instructor was flexible enough to understand this, I feel certain. This was evidenced by the pace the assignments were handled.
I enjoyed these courses very much! They are just a great starting point to get my thinking stirred up and given the fact I haven't taken courses in some time, I feel I will re-develop and insert more study time into future studies. I hope to retake the courses I've taken for both review as well as thinking deeper about each step of the way.

I liked the discussion board. It was nice to share thoughts and ideas after having thought about things for a few minutes.
How Would You Improve The Class?
Expanding the length of the course. Perhaps 1 lesson per week for 12 weeks. It was difficult to implement new ideas and complete assignments is a 2-3 day period. One of the lessons suggested that life is a process. That sums this class up very well--Organization is a process.

#3 Excellent information on a much needed topic for me.

I did enjoy the freedom to do the lessons at any time.
Thanks for offering the class.
How Would You Improve The Class?
Imput from the instructor needs to be more personal and understandable. The replys to discussion posts were hard to understand as to how they related to the post made by any of the students. I had to really disect the answers and that left me less inclined to post anything. I needed a personal reply in simple language that directly related to the post.

What were some of the strong points of the course?
Various teaching methods used which helps people with different learning styles. Didn't always need all the different presentations to get the points being made.
I'm not recommending it to anyone else because I can't think of anyone it might apply to.
How Would You Improve The Class?
I'm sorry this group of students were so reluctant to use the discussion board. Thought it was good to have it. But since it was offered through my county's parks and rec. department, I'm sure I too thought of it as pretty exra-curricular.

Good way to keep organized is keep the clutter off the brain.
When kept organized on the desk, in emails, and the overall workload does help productivity and helps to focus on getting the task completed and out of sight for good. Mind dump was the most helpful to me.

How Would You Improve The Class?
On dial-up, the audio & video files would play several seconds to maybe a minute then stop while more downloaded which could take a minute or two, then play a bit, stop a bit. It made for a very choppy presentation. The files would not repeat from the downloaded file so replaying the files was not an option. Mpg files that could be downloaded completely and then played would be a better system to use. Realmedia is not a system I think much of and will be purged from my system now that the class is done. Realmedia hasn't improved over the years.
The research topics from a couple lessons back I posted about on the discussion board need more work. Last I looked, I was the only one who posted concerning them.
The final exam score I was shown was zero with three or four wrong answers. I'm assuming another window becoming active was the problem. You need to provide some way to prevent pop-ups and firewall reactions if your going to give students zero scores for the test window becoming inactive when the new window has to be dealt with.
I'm assuming with the zero score I failed the class because the classroom allowed interruptions? Not something that thrills the paying students much I imagine.
If your site shows the test interuption problem has been dealt with I may take more of your classes. Until then, I'll pass.

What were some of the strong points of the course?
It allowed you to process information and work at your own pace. Just the right amount of information--thought-provoking, but not too overwhelming.
How Would You Improve The Class?
This was the first time I took a class on-line. That was a bit intimidating to me. Having the audio and video clips made it seem a little more interactive. I guess, not having done this before and relying only on a discussion board, I found the social element of discussion lacking. I'm not sure what can be done to improve that--it's one of the biggest issues I have with the electronic age. A big part of what makes up effective communication (the non-verbal part) is missing.

How Would You Improve The Class?
?? I wish that there could have been a little more discussion. I think that would have helped me more. Maybe for one of the assignments have us pick a mini goal like organizing a closet, use the 4 box method, discuss wether it worked and how it felt having it accomplished? I've been taking little steps like that and it has been wonderful. I always kinda knew what I needed to do but could never get started. Taking this course helped me think about how to organize my thoughts so I can start to organize my stuff and life.

What were some of the strong points of the course?
I needed encouragement to clean up my husband's big clutter and my small clutter at home, and I got that in Lesson 10. As a semi-retiree, I found most of the class not relevant to my needs. Getting an electronic organizer would just seem to complicate my life, just one more thing to keep in order, and be an expense I don't need. Most of the lessons seemed to focus on the needs of people who juggle busy job, kids, lots of outside activities and meetings. I have a very busy life, but I don't take on more than I can keep track of in my head and accomplish accordingly. I enjoyed entering each classroom and came to realize that my life is not as overloaded and complicated as many people's.

What were some of the strong points of the course?
I thought that the lessons about mind dumping and using a planner were very effective. Both of these tools have helped me to eliminate all of the little to do lists around the house. It was very inciteful to look at Gary's own planner. His tips on communication planners were great. I had set similar pages up years ago, but have not kept the habit up. But, I have recreated the pages. I have created a travel page for each location that I frequent. It includes the hotels and restaurants that I like. The lesson on home oganization was also very effective.
How Would You Improve The Class?
I have tought web based courses before, so I know how difficult it can be to get students involved in the discussions. Perhaps participation could be required to get the certificate. Of course, I did not know that I would get a certificate, so that might not be too much incentive. Gary was extremely diligent about replying to posts. My only suggestion is to tone down some of the comments. He is very knowledgeable and opinionated, but his comments might shut down the few students that do post to the dicussionboard.

What were some of the strong points of the course?
The main point was the fact that I could, and can, apply the lessons to my daily life. I was happy that the class was developed in such a way that even a stay-at-home-mom like me can apply the concepts covered in the lessons. It was also very valuable that the vast majority of the lessons were presented in such a way that clearly stated my own state of mind, i.e. the need for organization is not an isolated issue. This course is obviously designed to encourage us to reflect in the values and priorities that we have in life, and how they correlate with the way we are actually living our lives. Thank you.

What were some of the strong points of the course?
This course helped me to focus more concretely. It was hard for me at first to divorce from the abstract goal to a more step by step goal. Actually this course has helped to be more successful in completion of the tasks at work by taking the goal and disecting it into segmants. I am positive in time this way of action will also spill over to the tasks at home as well.
