What did you like about the course?

The materials were very good. My goal varied from the exact purpose of the course---but reading these items helped me focus and refine my objectives. They appeared right on target for future class teachers. Also, I appreciated Gary's replies to my questions---prompt and inspiring.

    Well-organized, integrated, topical, resource-rich, varied, focused, linearly programmed, very reliant on student's computer skills.

    What suggestions do you have?

    What every educational experience should address: needs of the student. Perhaps a pre-screening pretest which branches to: 1) you are ready for this course; 2) you need basic computer skills,GOTO___; X may help you at____3)perhaps Basic typing would help you, etc. I found the discussion part difficult and abandoned it. I also had some problems going back and forth until I developed a system.

    What did you like about the course?

    I liked the discussion board and the opportunity for interaction. (Even though I was the only student using it.) Overall organization of the material was good, with plentiful links to other resource materials. It worked with a slow dialup connection. The audios were slow, but worked. I skipped any videos.

    What suggestions do you have?

    I thought I might get some tips about the adult student--typical fears or learning issues. Ideas on how adults are different than kids and what they're looking for in a class.

    To be fair, I find I don't do well without face to face interaction. I find it difficult to commit the time if an actual place is not scheduled. However there is a wealth of information provided in this course that was easy to download for future reference.

    What suggestions do you have?

    I think automatic e-mails prompting students to check the blog when someone posted to it might have contributed to more interaction.

    The huge resource of the rest of the Net and the links provided in lessons. These links are an "added-value" (to steal a marketing term) to the content of the lessons.

    What suggestions do you have?

    Perhaps indicate in the messages, rather than at one of the student links (internal ones) that to get the Completion Certificate (which I wasn't expecting when I signed up for the course, but is another addes-value), students need to utilize the discussion board. Need to entice students into the discussion arena somehow.

    That's why I can't say this internet course outranks in-class courses. It's the discussion, often, that makes or breaks a class. (a personal opinion)

    There was a lot of helpful information, and it is a clear a lot of work went into the course's development.

    What suggestions do you have?

    As an educator, I was struck by the great number of mistakes with grammar and punctuation, as well as several typos, throughout the lessons. I would recommend hiring a professional proofreader to go through the written materials. Although the information was good, the many mistakes detract from your credibility. Overall, I did enjoy the course, and I got a lot out of it. Thanks.

    What did you like about the course?

    It put all of the information I needed in a capsule. I had some of the information; however, I now have ALL of the information in one place. I can print it and put it in a binder for reference. This was a very valuable class for me!!

    Ask students how much time they have to devote to the class before they start. I did not have time to take this class; however, I needed the information to assist me in the class in which I currently instruct. I can now review the saved material at my leisure.

    Comprehensive material. Gary explained everything I needed to know. He was available to explain and reinforce things. He showed me some resources, ie Mind Map, that I hadn't known about before.

    Content very practical and clearly based on the teacher's own experiences in setting up shop. Flet like counsel, advice and encouragment from a friend.

    This course and the course on starting a home-based business had lessons which were essentially the same content. I am not sure there is a way around that. I have already signed up for the internet teaching class; will I experince the same deja vu?
